UN AWARDS: NeST Recognized Among Top 15 Government Digital Systems in New York, USA
The National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST) has been recognized by United Nations agencies at the Digital@UNGA2026 Awards as one of the top 15 government digital systems driving economic transformation in society. The recognition was announced on September 21, 2026, in New York City, alongside the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin, presented the Director General of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Mr. Dennis Simba, with a special certificate recognizing NeST’s achievement as a finalist in the Awards.
NeST was selected as a finalist in the “Digital Government” category.
The Digital@UNGA2026 Awards were organized by two United Nations agencies: the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
NeST received this recognition for its contribution to transforming Tanzania’s public procurement sector, including promoting an inclusive economy by enabling citizens, including those without registered companies, to participate in and secure public tenders worth more than TZS 67 billion through organized groups.
