The Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB) has trained procurement cadre in Mwanza on strategic inventory control and warehouse management, TPJ has learnt.

The training, which took place between 23rd and 26th April 2019, was part of the board’s efforts towards addressing supply chain challenges facing the procurement and supplies cadre in the country.

Speaking with TPJ shortly after the training session, PSPTB’s Acting Executive Director, Mr. Godfred Mbanyi, said the training fell under professional development programme, “which is one of the major functions of the board whereby short courses that are tailored to upgrade professional knowledge and skills in various aspects and disciplines are offered,” Mr. Mbanyi said.

“Through such training, we strive to bridge knowledge gaps identified among procurement and supplies practitioners which handily addresses challenges facing the procurement and supply sector,” Mbanyi said.

According to Mr. Mbanyi, this particular training covered among others inventory management and its value in the supply chain, record management, warehousing technology, inventory management risks, stocktaking and verification, and relevant case studies.

The four-day training drew more than 37 participants from both private and public institutions, including Warehouse manager, supply chain analyst, supplies managers, stores manager, supplies officers, stock verifiers, and auditors.

TPJ understands that the role of PSPTB is to oversee and regulate the practice and conduct of procurement and supplies professionals and technicians in the country and works to ensure all registered professionals maintain requisite competence and skills based on current practice, legislation and techniques.
