The arrival and departure lounges of the Dodoma Airport are set to undergo major renovation and expansion following signing of contract for the works to be undertaken by the National Housing Corporation (NHC) at a cost of  625m/-.

Acting Director General of Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA), Mr. Richard Mayongela, said upgrading of the facilities has been necessitated by the growing number of passengers following government’s decision to move its seat to Dodoma.

Mr. Mayongela said the work is scheduled to take three months and upon completion, will enable the airport terminal to accommodate more than 100 passengers from the current 35.  

The Acting Director of NHC Mr. Felix Maagi promised to deliver best value for money and timely, saying: “We want our work to be exemplary by showcasing high quality workmanship so as to maintain our reputation.”

Speaking at the contract signing occasion, Deputy Minister for Works, Transport and Communication, Eng. Atashasta Nditiye, said expansion of the airport terminal was inevitable owing to the growing population and social - economic activities in the capital.
