Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan has launched a water project meant to serve 31 villages in Tabora Region with a warning against contractors who fail to meet their contractual obligations, TPJ has learnt.
Launching the 28 billion/- project that will supply water to about 42,000 residents in seven districts of the region recently, the vice president said while the Government was financing many water projects in various parts of the country, some have been shoddy and have left a lot to be desired.
The VP emphasized that the Government would not hesitate to take to task any government official or contractor who fail to meet value for money objectives by procuring or delivering sub standard works.
“There has also been a tendency among some government officials to embezzle funds meant for projects…their days are numbered and all culprits will be punished accordingly,” said the vice president.
She also called upon Tabora residents to take care of the infrastructure.
