In a bid to enhance understanding of business people on how common use items and services (CUIS) under framework contracts (FWC) system works, the Government Procurement Services Agency (GPSA) recently organized a meeting of more than 300 procurement stakeholders, TPJ has learnt.
GPSA’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jacob Kibona, told TPJ the meeting was necessitated by the fact that the Agency would soon invite tenders for CUIS in line with recent amendments to the procurement law.
Mr. Kibona added that participants were also enlightened on the risks of failing to observe tender deadlines as well as on various other issues that hamper smooth implementation of framework contracts, including failure to submit business licenses and certified legal documents.
”Some bidders have been submitting either expired licenses or those with suspicious statements,” he said.
He challenged bidders to adhere to tender procedures, noting that the Agency’s main concern is to get many responsive bids. He also cautioned against contract breaches as they attract debarment of culprits.
